At one time Wolesley Park had a train running through (going from Tumbarumba and Wagga Wagga) this train was known fondly as The Tin Hare by many of the locals. The train stopped at Wolesley Park although there was no real railway station there, only a platform with a Post Office on it. The Post Office, Telephone Exchange and Railway Station were manned by a delightful couple – Priscilla and Roland Scott who clearly were into multi-skilling. The Post Office and telephone exchange closed quite sometime ago, with the advent of rural automatic exchanges. The railway ceased operations in 1974 although the Tin Hare had stopped running some time before that. Parts of the old railway line can be clearly seen and it is a pleasant to walk along the line in spring. The remains of an old brick chimney can be seen, I don’t know the history of the chimney but the old bricks look as if they may have been locally made sometime ago.
During the early 1900’s a cheese factory operated at Wolesley Park and interestingly some of the first directors of the cheese factory have descendants living in the area today.
There was even a Mechanics Institute Hall which was made available to the Comforts Fund members during the 1914-1918 war. Where this hall was located is not clear.
