Montour Woods Multi-Cache Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

pinksweatshirt: As a newly joined member of the Hollw Oak Land Trust, I have been involved with some major trail development in this Montour Woods area. There are some awesome things happening here. At this time, the trail I used to set up this multi stage cache is obsolete. New and improved trails are taking its place. I'm going to archive this multi in anticipation of new caches in the near future which will be much easier to get to! Congrats to everyone who found this one! It was a good one! [:P]!!

Geocache Description:

Located in the Montour Woods Conservation Area - a part of the Hollow Oak Land Trust (www.hollowoak.org) - this area was acquired through two parcels in 2005 and 2009. It extends over 96 acres from Meeks Run Conservation area along Montour Run to the Frank A. Santucci Conservation Area. Recent trail improvements have made this an awesome place to hike and explore! Check for ticks- they are bad here! Sign says "hunting by special permission".Wear orange during hunting season.

**CACHE UPDATE 12/18/2012** The bushes that housed stage one have been removed! ! I replaced stage one but kept the same coordinates - You will find the new stage one within 10 feet of the coords and also I've provided a fool-proof hint. Additionally, the pink ribbons along the trail are a bit sketchy now - several are missing, but the trail is still very obvious and easy to follow! keep on caching!  A very small ( 2 car max) parking area is available at the posted parking coords - other parking would be availabe at the Montour Trail parking area off Hassam Road. This is a 4 Stage Multi Cache. Pink surveyor ribbons are tied around trees and branches along the way to blaze the trail. All the stages are on or just off the trail. No need to bushwack! Stage one is a key holder and two is a pill bottle that provide coordinates to the next stage.  Stage three is a hidden coffee can that holds a log book and tradables. You may end your quest here or you may do the 4th and final stage which is the "END" of the trail blazed with pink ribbons. There is a small container container holding another log book at the 'end' stage 4.  This is a pretty long and challenging hike - almost a mile hike, one way, to the 'end'.
