Here is a historical cemetery that I ran across once before while conducting some research on cemeteries within Geary and Morris County(s). Thought that this cemetery was quite unique and was surprised that there were not any caches placed inside, although there is a cache in the nearby cemetery just 1/2 mile from this one. Coming to the end of my REAPER cemetery series and wanted to include this cemetery.
Well, after spending an adventerous day geocaching in the Emporia, KS, area one fine Sunday, I started heading home to Junction City. While traveling the back roads home, I finally remembered about this cemetery and diverted my route just to place a cache.
I arrived with just enough sunlight to place a cache and also got to witness a fantastic Kansas sunset from this location. Dunlap, KS, is quite remote, so plan accordingly.
Cache container that you will be searching for is a PBJ JAR wrapped in camo tape. Cache is placed so that regular-height persons should be able to make the retrieval - may be a little difficult for those "height-challenged" persons!!
To get to this cemetery, travel the back roads to the tiny town of Dunlap, KS. Best route is to acquire Dunlap Road out of Council Grove, KS, and head south or acquire Dunlap Road off of US Hwy 56 west of Emporia, KS. Once in Dunlap, turn east when Dunlap Road intersects with 4th Street and follow the new signs that point towards the Dunlap Cemetery District. You will be traveling on dirt/gravel roads once you turn off of Dunlap Road. Travel east and then turn north onto Broadway Street. Turn east when Broadway intersects with AA Road. You will travel east until you come to Dunlap Cemetery and a road heading north. At this intersection look at the road signs for they will read Road A & 100 Road heading north. Also AA Road will turn into 290 Road (also, just follow the new signs).
Anyway, travel north on Road A / 100 Road for roughly 1/2 mile. This cemetery will be on the west side of road. Look for the weed covered sign for this cemetery reading "Dunlap Cemetery". Cache is placed inside somewhere.
Here are a few alternate web-sites for this cemetery that I thought were very interesting: one site describes the history of the cemetery and region and the other describes the history of the town of Dunlap, KS.

Since I placed this cache in limited daylight, I placed cache in the first likely hiding place I found - should be a quick find.
Remember, this is a cemetery and please observe any/all rules/regulations that may be posted and that we have all read on other page write-ups concerning cemeteries.
UPDATE: June 10, 2018 - Container destroyed by tree growth. placed and new container/log. Also, some new signs that point the way to the cemetery have been installed from Dunlap Road tot he cemetery.
