Otokia Creek (Otago) Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

dakotacats: The cache has gone missing again, I've replaced it three times now. Time to give up and let someone else have a go at placing another cache in the area. Or I may sometime in the near future!!

Geocache Description:

The Otokia Creek runs through the seaside township of Brighton which is 20 kilometres southwest of Dunedin's city centre on the Southern Scenic Route. The Otokia Creek is a small stream which has its sources some 10 kilometres to the southwest in the coastal hills which separate the coast from the Taieri Plains. For many years boats could be hired from the adjacent building allowing people to paddle on the Otokia Creek. Unfortunately at this present time (November 2012) the boat hire building has been declared unsafe and its fate remains unknown. This cache has been placed with the permission of the owners, there is no need to enter the park grounds so please don't. If you park near the shop you can walk to the cache site - look out for the two park benches. There are many ducks and geese that live in the Otokia Creek area so don't forget to take some bread with you. Bring your own pen/pencil and an extraction utensil may come in handy too.
