Around Lincoln there are several of these old numbered gates, some in use and others like this are obviously not. The school was first established in 1878 as the School of Agriculture and then from 1896-1961 it was known as Canterbury Agricultural College or "CAC", a division of Canterbury University before finally it became Lincoln University. In the early days all the concrete posts were actually made on the campus. - Thanks to Kiwi Moose & Wombatseeker for supplying this information.
I just liked the look of them, so this became cache No. 9 for my 12-12-12 series.
