Geocache Description:

Frieda is introduced by Linus to Charlie Brown on March 6, 1961:

"How do you do, Charlie Brown...I have naturally curly hair!"

It's a fact that she mentions no less than four times out of her first six appearances in Peanuts.

Over the months ahead, we get to know this little girl as mainly vain (she won't play baseball unless she doesn't have to wear a cap, which would cover up her naturally curly hair), opinionated (she tells Linus that the constant slurping of his thumb in his mouth is nauseating) and bossy (she keeps bugging Snoopy, trying to get him out chasing rabbits.)

In fact, she soon comes to feel that Snoopy is too smug, being the only animal in the neighborhood. To "put him in his place," Frieda asks her mother for....a CAT! And she gets one! The introduction of Faron, the cat, is pretty funny, but let's leave that for another, uh, time.

In the 50-year span of Peanuts, Frieda doesn't really last all that long. Except for that first year or so, her appearances are infrequent. She will always be remembered, however, as that girl with the "naturally curly hair"!

The cache is a matchstick capsule, hidden inside an old Halloween decoration (the companion to "Great Pumpkin" nearby).

On this steep, uphill hike, you'll want sturdy hiking shoes, water, probably a snack, and definitely a camera (if you decide to head to the top, which I hope you'll do). There are other caches on the way.
