Geocache Description:

The reasoning behind this cache is just to point out the features in the park around it or nearby.

Cache has been changed completely from the original container and you need to bring your own pen. There is no need to disrupt the garden bed as the cache is not in the garden, nor is it under the rectangular plastic watering system solenoid cover.

The features to be found in or near this park are –

The Millicent brass band practice room built in 1928.

In the drain behind the band practice room the remains of the old swimming pool which was 100 ft long, 35 ft wide and 7 ft deep at the deep end. This pool opened in March 1937 and at the time was described in the newspaper as equal  to anything in the state.

The RSL Clubrooms which opened in 1959.

Band Rotunda which opened on December 13, 1911.

The Cross of sacrifice which was unveiled on December  5, 1923.

“Watts” building across George street from the hotel, built in 1872.

The Beehive mural on the side of Watts building.

The Somerset Hotel  built in 1872.

There are plenty of street parks near the cache location or you could use the parking area in front of the RSL building.
