Geocache Description:

This geocache is located along the Dam Road in Highlands Hammock State Park. Part of the Dam Road is a portion of the bike trail that runs throughout Highlands Hammock. This road is also often walked and/or biked by visitors, as it is NOT accessible by vehicle. Beware... satellite reception here becomes jumpy here.

The Bobcat, Lynx Rufus Floridanus are warm blooded, solitary and territorial predators commonly found in Florida. It is one of the two species of large wild cat in Florida, the other being the Florida Panther. They are about the size of a medium sized dog with the male and female averaging about 39 inches in length and 18lbs in weight. The females are typically smaller. Bobcats are easily identified by their bobbed tail. They have 2-3 kittens. They have inter-sexual exclusive territories which means that there is only one male and one female per territory. However, females have a smaller territory. Males need about 5000 acres, which females need about 2500 acres.
