This cache series is dedicated to bringing a geoart smiley face to the inner city of Indianapolis.
After completing the Constellation Smiley at Camp Atterbury, and with the likelihood of it being archived due to DNR geocaching rules, we sought to keep the Smiley alive. After searching for space in Indy large enough to replicate the Atterbury Smiley, we brought it to the inner city; not the jungle of Camp Atterbuy, but the inner city IS a jungle of its own.
This cache is located on a Stop Sign at the coordinates. There are numbers on the back of the sign that could be helpful for solving the final cache if you choose to do so.
BYOP
This series IS NOT about the actual caches or the physical locations themselves, but making your own smiley face and hopefully smiling along the way.
If you would like, you may take your photo, or bring your own smiley and pose him, and post fun/interesting tidbits along the way about your experience; although due to Geocaching guidelines this is optional. DO NOT post photos with the numbers on the back of the signs as this would spoil the final cache.
About this series:
There are 19 primary caches in this series (A through S), all located on a road sign at the posted coordinates for each cache. If you complete the series you will have a nice Smiley face near downtown Indy.
There are two possible parts to this cache:
1) Physically log each Smiley cache sign.
2) Record the number located on the back of each Smiley cache sign. If you choose to complete the final puzzle cache, you will need to use the numbers on the back of the Smiley cache signs to obtain the ultimate Smiley prize.
DO NOT put the sign number in your log note.
CAUTIONS – guide to an Urban Jungle caching experience:
1) HAVE A PARTNER - Parking is not always allowed on the side of the road, so you will want to do this with a partner who can stay with the car. You should not leave your car unattended.
2) CACHES ARE UP HIGH - logs are physically located on the sign, those of you vertically challenged will want a step stool or a tall partner.
3) WATCH FOR CHILDREN - This series is in the middle of a neighborhood with children and pets.
4) PEOPLE’S HOMES ARE NEAR THE CACHES - Please respect people’s privacy and watch for muggles. If they think you are suspicious they could report your actions to the neighborhood crime watch. Worse, they could approach you and/or threaten you. Care has been taken to place caches as far from homes as possible, but there are a few that are closer than we’d prefer. If you feel this cache is poorly located or you receive bad feedback from the neighbors, please write a separate log note.
5) TIGHT ROADS - Some of the roads around the center smile section (caches O through S) are tight requiring someone to pull off to let the car going the opposite direction; please be courteous and be patient.
6) CRIME - Be aware of caching at night – this can be a rough neighborhood at times - SEE CAUTION #1. If we felt it was too threatening we would not have placed the caches here, but do pay attention to your surroundings and be ready to call the police if you feel threatened – CACHE WITH A PARTNER!
7) MISSING CACHES - It is highly possible that cache logs could come up missing – if so please log a maintenance note and we will work diligently to replace it and/or find another location close by.
Have fun and SMILE – that’s what you are here for right?!?!
