Stonagal: You never forget your first cache hide. I know I'll always have fond memories of this one. Indeed I got rather nostalgic as I rounded things up tonight. But it's not totally gone - it will be reborn as something similar. I think the new hide better captures the gist of what I wanted to highlight with this one (plus the whole thing will be winter friendly!). Thanks to all who found this over the past two and some years.

Geocache Description:

This is a three-stage multi.  All three locations have something to do with the word "pine".  A vehicle works best for this one, but a bicycle can accomplish the task too.  Cache contains only the log. An FTF certificate will be e-mailed out once I have verified the find (klblue).

Stage 1: You are looking for a piece with the coordinates for stage two. You do not need to venture onto private property or near the school.

Stage 2: You are not looking for a cache here.  Read the plaque and nearby signage to determine the coordinates for stage three.  Parking is available to the east and west.  Using the information in front of you, solve for N49°5A.BCD; W097°0D.ABE, where:

A = The first digit in the fifth paragraph.
B = The first digit in the first paragraph.
C = The product of the two digits in the City Route number given to the highway commemorated on the plaque (look to the northeast).
D = The second digit of the year in the fourth paragraph.
E = The final digit in the third paragraph.

Stage 3: As you approach Ground Zero, the hide should become self-evident, but may take a bit of searching.  Park on a side street, not on the busy road. Careful for muggles!
