W2J07: Jerusalem! Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Happy Humphrey: I've been waiting for an opportunity to recover all the containers in the series, but every time I have a free couple of hours it rains! I'll archive now and retrieve later.

Geocache Description:

Part of the Walking To Jerusalem series.

A short, easy stroll from W2J06. The bridleway follows the edge of the lovely Gleadthorpe New Plantation with its fine beech trees. The cache is on the other side of the path from the plantation.

About 100 metres further on is the mysterious "Jerusalem's Well", which inspired this cache series. Although there's little to see, the site is marked with a post and is right at the side of the path. It's thought that the path is part of an old coaching route from Warsop to Tuxford, and that the well is a watering place for horses. Although it's stone clad, the farmer thought it best to cap it with slabs to stop children climbing down. Now visible is only a small depression in the ground.

I'm grateful to the Forestry Commission for permission to place this cache.

ABOUT THE WALKING TO JERUSALEM SERIES

A series of 13 caches leading round a circular route in a lovely part of Sherwood Forest. See the description of number 13 for a map and for more details.

Each cache contains a logbook / sheet with a number linked to a letter (such as "A=7"). Use these letters and numbers to find the final cache (number 13).
