Pretty much of a Park 'n Grab.
Years ago we lived near here. At that time most canals were open channels even through towns. As populations (and small children) increased there was more political pressure to use underground pipelines near schools and areas where children congregate. This area is a good example of how such a project can benefit the community. Since being placed underground, it has become a safe walking, running and bicycling path that is often used by the community.
