A salute to Sherwood's Major Oak
Robin Hood is a legend about a man who ran around Sherwood forest escaping the Sheriff of Nottingham by hiding inside a massive hollow oak tree, since named the Major Oak.
Little John was his massive friend. Luckily the Major Oak is quite big.
I had just got back from Sherwood (in October) where my friend and I pretended to be both these roles and saw the Major Oak. It's humongous!
The John Radcliffe is a Major Hospital steeped in history and fame, and is growing by the second. The JR site, as it's more affectionately known, is made up of 5 specialised hospitals: JR I, the Women's Centre. JR II, the general and main hospital. The Children's Hospital, my workplace, the West Wing another specialised centre for certain surgery, and the Cardiac centre.
I'm not here to advertise or berate any of these, but from this noticably large tree you can see the children's hospital and the West wing and I'm very proud of working there!
As I walk out of work I walk passed this tree; I thought the experience of Sherwood Forest and pride in "my" hospital should go together.
Please use stealth in this location - it could easily go missing! Indeed it has 3 or 4 times. Also, 2 tips: 1. bring your own pen,it is quite small. 2. Put the logbook back in the lid first! Enjoy!
