Geocache Description:

Buntingford is the smallest town in Hertfordshire and dates back to 1185. The original settlement was in the parish of Layston near the church of St.Bartholomew which was built in the C13th. Over the the centuries the settlement moved down the valley to its present location.

The cache is one of a series around Buntingford, Puckeridge and Standon. the Buntingford caches will eventually make a pleasant circular walk.

Pay and display parking can be found in Bowling Green Lane and around the streets of Buntingford. Beware parking time limitations!

There are many footpaths and bridleways on the eastern side of Buntingford most of which are well used, so look out for mugglers. The paths do tend to get muddy after rainfall, so come prepared with wellingtons or walking boots.
