I like mesquite trees. They smell good, give shade, feed a lot of critters and provide homes for many of the same. That said, they also have some AMAZING thorns on some species-- the things are worse than nails! This cache, however, has less to do with thorns and more to do with shade and greenery.
Situated near the Sutherland Wash and quite near a road, this cache will require a little walk (less than a quarter mile) from the nearby Picnic Area; if you're coming the other way from the Romero Trail trailhead, it'll be a bit further. Plenty of parking can be found at either. The cache is very accessible from the road, though perhaps not that easy a find; I took some pains with the camo on this one. It contains some small swag and a log; please bring your own pencil. And while you're there, enjoy the lovely state park-- it's a truly beautiful place and well worth the look, just exactly the kind of thing that geocaching is all about. Have fun!
Congrats to RavenArtStudio for ftf!
