As a result of widening I-80, a number of bridges from Omaha to Lincoln and Lincoln to Omaha were removed around 2010-2012. This was one victim. The bridge approach on each side still exists, but the state has dutifully put guard rails in the area to keep people from trying to drive across anyway.
Access to this cache is nearly impossible from the Interstate, as there is a high deer fence instead of a "normal" fence. It is just plain dangerous to park on the Interstate at any time, so please do not do it.
I was in the area to grab another cache. After signing that cache log, I decided to cross the interstate here - why? To get to the other side of course. All the maps I have still show the bridge to exist. Well, this was such a great spot that I could not resist putting a cache here. The next closest cache is the one I just signed, but this area is severely devoid of caches.
Parking is available on the road, but guard rails on both sides of the road make a somewhat tight fit. Either snuggle your geomobile up to the rail, park further away, or be ready to move your vehicle. I'm pretty sure that your geomobile loses against most big tractors and combines.
This is a small container, I think it was a plastic peanut butter jar. This cache is not meant to be hard. Please put it back as you found it. Hopefully it gets wedged in a bit to hold it in place. You will likely see this container from a distance, thus the D1 rating.
No trees were harmed in the making of this cache! ;-) The terrain rating is earned. It is not difficult, but you may consider it to be steep. Add the snow or mud attributes and it definitely earns its rating.
Regular size travel bugs can be easily traded here. Bowling ball bugs, car door bugs, lamp bugs, and hub cap bugs should not be left here.
Please log all bugs with a "Discovered It" if you see it. Bug owners like to know their bug still exists.
If you take a bug, please log its adventures, hopefully letting them visit every cache that you visit. Bug owners like to know their bug is active and still exists.
