You are looking for a small container in a camouflaged bag hidden out of site behind the Model Elan Valley Reservoir in Canon Hill Park. There is room for small trackables and swapables.
The coordinates are a rough guide due to the overhead foliage. Please replace the cache excatly how and where you find it to make sure that it is well hidden.
There are two car parks for Canon Hill Park and the MAC that are clearly signposted and a short walk from the cache.
Take time to look at the scale model of the Elan Valley Reservoirs which are located in the Japanese garden close to GZ. It was built in the 1960s.
The work carried out over a hundred years ago to build the Elan Valley dams and reservoirs was only part of the huge undertaking. Almost as impressive was the challenge of delivering the enormous quantities of water by gravity alone, across very hilly country and over many river valleys, to Frankley Reservoir on the outskirts of Birmingham. This involved building the 73 mile long Elan aqueduct, down which the water travels at less than two miles per hour, taking one and a half days to get to Birmingham.There are several signs of the aqueduct between Elan Valley to Frankley, in the form of brick aqueducts, exposed pipelines and red brick valve houses on hillsides.
Birmingham's tap water is noted for being exceptionally soft, with a low percentage of dissolved minerals, as compared to the surrounding areas of the West Midlands not served by the Elan aqueduct, and which have hard water.
There is a newly activated trackable Model Elan Valley for the FTF as well as a commemorative card.
