It’s been referred to as “The Game” in College Football, showcasing arguably the best rivalry in all of college sports. In the final game of the regular season, the rivalry is renewed when the blue and maze clash with the scarlet and grey. Michigan vs. Ohio State is my favorite college game of the year, even bigger than the National Championship. In order to get a smiley on this, you’ll need to answer some questions.

This puzzle is rated a 2.5 only because some cachers may not be a fan of either team, much less a fan of football or sports in general. For some of you, this could be a breeze.

N 39 AB.CDE – W 084 VW.XYZ is your key for the final coordinates.

A. At the date of publication, the last player other than a quarterback or running back to win the Heisman Trophy was none other than Charles Woodson of Michigan. Woodson has recorded over 50 interceptions as a corner back in the NFL. In his first game against Ohio State in college, he recorded A interception(s) against the Buckeyes

B. Former Ohio State head coach John Cooper disappointed Buckeye Nation by leading the team to an eye-scratching 2-10-1 record against the Wolverines in their 13 meetings. After this legendary coach called it quits, Jim Tressel returned the favor to Michigan, who only managed B win(s) against Ohio State while losing nine times.

C. Attendance records have been broken in the 108 meetings between these two rivals. For the first time in college football history, over 100,000 fans attended the Michigan vs. Ohio State game in 19C7 at the Big House, where Ohio State edged out Michigan 31-14.

D. In the era of the Bowl Championship Series, or BCS for short, only once have Ohio State and Michigan held the number one and two spots in the rankings heading into their annual game. This game ended with the Buckeyes retaining their top spot in the BCS rankings by beating the 11-0 Wolverines by D point(s). Ohio State would go on to lose the National Championship and Michigan would get beaten in the Rose Bowl.

E. To make things fair, the tradition for location is to have the two teams alternating hosting the game. The last time either team hosted consecutive games was 19E8, when Michigan shut out the Buckeyes for the third straight game.

VW. Ohio State has recently dominated Michigan, going 8-3 against the Wolverines since 2000 (excluding the forfeited win from 2010, this statistic is as of the date of publication). However, this rivalry started out the complete opposite as the Buckeyes lost or tied their first VW meetings with Michigan.

X. There was something special about the Ohio Pick 4 lottery numbers on the night of Ohio State’s victory over Michigan in 2006 between the number one and two teams respectively in the BCS standings. Use the last digit of the Pick 4 for X in the coordinates.

Y. Bragging rights over the opposing team is always one of the best parts of winning the game. You own the right to talk trash for a year until the next game. However, there have been Y meeting(s) where neither team or fan base could dish out the insults (includes the forfeited victory in 2010 to make the numbers work).

Z. Both programs are two of the most distinguished and successful college football programs of all time. Michigan has more national championship, Rose Bowl appearances, and Big Ten conference championships. Meanwhile, Ohio State has more BCS bowl appearances, more Heisman trophy winners, and more All-Americans. However, both college’s share an all time winning percentage over .Z00
