Hydro Tunnel Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
Water is diverted through a 2-mile long tunnel through Haney Mountain from the Fall River to the Pit 1 Powerhouse. Water is moved through 1,150 ft. of "open cut" and a 10,160 ft. tunnel through the mountain with a 14.3 ft. diameter penstock of 1400 ft. lead to the powerhouse. PG&E started construction on the tunnel in 1920, and operation was started on Sept. 30, 1922.
This hide is in the vicinity of where the water is diverted through the tunnel from Fall River. (There is also a cache located near the other end of the tunnel on the other side of the mountain.) This is basically a drive-up, but with a little bit of a challenge to make the find. Please be careful to return this as you found it. Enjoy!
Congratulations to mtlassen for FTF!
