Lone Pine Traditional Cache
jackthebear: This one has disappeared 3 times now. I guess the temptation to run off with a nice ammo can is just too much to keep this one going. We will look for a more secluded spot for a new cache the next time we are over this way.

Mississippi River State Park has recently refurbished the Beech Point Campground with full RV hookup AAA campsites on the west side of Bear Creek Lake. For those folks that are interested in a closer encounter with nature in a separate location on the east side of the lake there is the Lone Pine Campground. It has 14 sites each of which has a graveled tent pad, fire ring, grill, and lantern hook. There are also vault toilets in the campground.
At the north end of the campground there is a small footpath that leads down the hillside to the edge of the lake. Just before reaching the lake off to one side I have placed a cache. The site is quite scenic and is a wonderful place to sit and meditate by the lake or watch the wildlife around you. The container is now an ammo can with just a few trinkets and a log book. The original container got smashed to pieces somehow.
Cache Reviewer Note: Placed with permission of the Supt., Mississippi River State Park.
