North To Nelson!
The Great Northern Rail Trail extends from Salmo, past Nelson, and on to Troup, following the former Burlington Santa Fe rail bed. The rail bed is level (more or less), but some portions of it are better traveled than others, so the ground varies from groomed gravel to overgrown weeds. It is a great trail for walking or cycling, and in the winter, X-country skiing or snowshoeing.
This name of this all-season cache was inspired by the tree that seems to be growing out of a crack in a pretty solid looking rock. While getting to the cache, be careful of your footing, you will have to scramble over some real ankle-twister sized boulders.
And don't forget to BYOP!
