MONTE MUGGIO
ITA: Il monte Croce di Muggio (o semplicemente Monte Muggio), è una montagna dell'Alta Valsassina, affacciata sul Lago di Como.
Una strada asfaltata ricca di tornanti sale da Narro (fraz. di Casargo) e porta fino ad un grande parcheggio auto in località Alpe Giumello a quota 1536m s.l.m.
In inverno è attivo un piccolo impianto sciistico che porta sciatori e snowboarders quasi in cima al monte. Nelle altre stagioni è visitato da escursionisti in cerca di panoramiche camminate ed è luogo di decollo per gli appassionati di deltaplano e parapendio che, dalla chiesetta della Madonna della Neve, si lanciano per poi atterrare a valle nei pressi di Taceno.
Dalla cima (1799m s.l.m.) il panorama è mozzafiato. Verso ovest si vede buona parte del Lago di Como ed il Lago di Lugano. Verso sud vediamo tuta la Valsassina e la maestosa Grigna settentrionale. Verso ovest possiamo vedere l'Alpe Paglio e il Pian delle Betulle e, più in là, svetta il Pizzo tre Signori e i piani di Bobbio. Verso nord, infine, vediamo il monte Legnoncino e, alla sua destra, l'imponente monte Legnone.

A road full of hairpin bends leads from Narro to a large car parking in Alpe Giumello (1536 msl).
In winter There is a ski lift that brings skiers and snowboarders near the top of the mountain. In other seasons is visited by hikers looking for scenic walks and pilots of hang gliding and paragliding, which start near the Our Lady of the Snows' church (Madonna della Neve in ITA).
From the summit (1799 msl), the view is amazing. To the west you can see a good part of Lake of Como and Lake of Lugano. To the south you can see the all Valsassina and the Grigna's majestic northern side. To the west you can see Alpe Paglio and Pian delle Betulle and, further, the Pizzo Tre Signori and Bobbio. To the north, finally, you can see the mountain Legnoncino and to his right, the imposing Mount Legnone.
COME SALIRE/HOW TO REACH THE TOP
ITA: Ci sono 2 vie per raggiungere la cima:
_dal versante est, lungo un sentiero praticamente dritto che sale lungo la cresta del monte.
_dal versante ovest, seguendo un sentiero meno ripido che parte appena sopra la pineta retrostante la chiesetta della Madonna della Neve.
Se volete raggiungere la vetta in mountainbike (come faccio io), consiglio di salire da est (con buona parte da fare a spinta) e scendere da ovest.
ENG: There are two ways to reach the top:
_From the east, along a straight path that goes along the ridge of the mountain.
_From the west side, following a path less steep that start just above the pine forest behind the church of Our Lady of the Snows.
If you want to reach the top on a mountain bike (as I do), I recommend going up from the east side (with much sections to push your mtb) and get down from the west side.
