El diumenge 22 de juliol de 2012, l’Alt Empordà va patir un gravíssim incendi que es va iniciar a La Jonquera i a Portbou. Els bombers van trigar cinc dies en donar-lo per controlat, el balanç final va ser de 13963 hectàrees cremades, dues morts i milers d’abonats sense llum ni telèfon.
El catxé està situat en un punt de la carretera GIV-5105, entre dos dels municipis més afectats: Llers (1591 Hectàrees cremades) i Avinyonet de Puigventós (461 Hectàrees). Podeu aparcar en un camí de terra que uneix ambdues poblacions i llavors cal que creueu la carretera per a buscar l'amagatall. El paisatge resultant dies després de l’incendi era desolador, totalment gris, cendrós i amb una forta olor a cremat. Tres mesos més tard, el color verd comença a fer-se present de nou, creant un impactant contrast amb el color negre dels troncs cremats de l’entorn; petites alzines ja hi estan creixent, i els arbres ennegrits, supervivents de les flames, lluiten per revifar.
Aquest petit catxé vol ser un recordatori del terrible incendi que va acabar amb la vegetació i els animals de la zona.
De manera optativa, estaria bé que adjuntéssiu una foto del paratge o, millor encara, del “supervivent” en qüestió, per tal d’observar com el que ara és un esquelet negre i solitari torna a ser verd, frondós i robust. Cal dir que el catxé original estava a prop d'un arbre de l'altra banda de la carretera (veure fotos penjades pels geocatxers que el van trobar), però el van talar el desembre de 2013 i el contenidor va desaparèixer. Per aquest motiu, desde gener de 2014, hi ha un nou catxé a prop d'un altre supervivent
The cache is located on the GIV-5105 road between Llers and Avinyonet de Puigventós. The terrain is not difficult and it is easy to park at the path that you will find on the opposite side of the road where the cache is. NOTE THAT THE ORIGINAL SURVIVOR DIED (THE TREE WAS CHOPPED DOWN), SO THE CACHE IS NOW NEAR ANOTHER SURVIVOR THAT I HOPE WILL LAST LONGER!
On Sunday, July 22nd 2012, Alt Empordà suffered a serious fire that started at La Jonquera and Portbou. The fire-fighters took five days to control it, and the consequences were 13963 hectares burned, two casualties and thousands of citizens without electricity and telephone service.
The cache is located between two of the most affected villages: Llers (1591 hectares) and Avinyonet de Puigventós (461). You can park on a path that departs from the main road between these villages, then cross the road to look for the cache. A few days after the fire, the resulting landscape was gray and devastated, covered in ashes, and with a strong burning smell. Three months later, the green colour is appearing again, creating a striking contrast with the black colour of the surrounding burned bushes. Small oaks are already growing, and blackened trees, the survivors of the fire, are struggling to revive.
This small cache is a reminder of the terrible fire that killed the vegetation and the animals of the area.
Optionally, it would be nice if you could attach a picture of the area, or better yet, of the “survivor”, in order to see how the black, lonely skeleton becomes green, lush and robust again.
