Vicki is a Master Gardener. This cache is located in the area of the cottage gardens that are planted by Master Gardener's and school children involved in the summer day camp of 2012.
Gary Fredricks is the heart behind the MG program and gave us permission to place this geocache. Hopefully it's the first of several.
Vicki is a Master Gardener. The Master Gardener's are affiliated with the Washington State University Extension Office. We offer many classes for the public, such as composting, tree pruning and how to set up a water barrel. We run a booth at the Farmer's Market and have a plant and pest clinic where we can identify problems clients might have with bugs or identifying weeds and other plants in their yards. We can educate about invasive plants, such as Knotweed and Tansy and how to eradicate them. This year we started a program called the VEG Gardens where we go out into the community and set up raised beds for clients that have been chosen through an application process. We supplied the beds and soil and helped them in their quest to grow a vegetable garden.
This cache is close by a vegetable plot maintained by Vicki and her cohort, Billie, for the last two seasons. We donate the produce to CAP.
We have added a gift certificate for a discount on a class offered by the Master Gardener's. Please don't take it unless you think you'll be able to use it. It has an expiration date. We also added some packets of seeds. If they don't get wet they should be OK.
This cache is, as all of ours are, pretty easy. Please try to respect the gardens and plants. Say hi to anyone working in the gardens.
