Geocache Description:

The Snapping Turtle is the largest species of turtle native to the United States. Their sinister look and reputation have made them perhaps the most well-known turtle species throughout the world. They’re native to regions as far north as Canada and as far south as Ecuador. Snapping Turtles are a very interesting species that will thrive and rule over any pond.

Snapping Turtles defend themselves with their powerful jaws, rather than retreating to their shells like most species. Primarily carnivorous, the Snapping Turtle will eat just about anything. They’ll spend their days wallowing in the muddy bottom of your pond just waiting to snap up their next meal. These turtles get big and will give you years of enjoyment observing them and watching how they behave in their natural habitat.
