3rd Orleans Beavers Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

jsheehy: Well, after 6 years and over 150 finds, it's time to retire this cache. It survived four spring thaws with no problem, but the last two have had water levels high enough to wash the cache away. Thanks to everyone who took the time to look for it.

Geocache Description:

The 3rd Orleans Beaver Scout group created and placed this cache. It is our first cache, and many of the youth brought trinkets to contribute.
We did an evening hike, in the dark with 25 children to place this cache.

A quick, family friendly cache that’s easy to get to. We’ll be bringing the Beavers back in the spring to see who has signed the log book and what interesting items were exchanged. Note: At the end of the first winter this cache was in place, it ended up mostly encased in ice, and and the spring this area is prone to flooding (the cache is above the flood line, but it could be difficult to get to). Keep this in mind, depending on the time of year that you are seeking out this cache. Please note: This cache has a history of freezing in ice during the winter. Attempts to chip the cache container out of the ice have broken the container and caused water damage to the contents. Please use caution in the winter. Please note that this cache is NOT marked as winter accessible.
