Geocache Description:

As many would be aware, SA is holding the Oz Mega 2014 but where is it going to be. This series will highlight some towns in SA that may or maybe not the location for the 2014 Oz Mega.

THIS CACHE IS MAINTAINED BY DRKRAMER.
 
Although Horsham is not in SA - it pertains to be SA Friendly. 


Horsham is a lively city, centrally located in the Wimmera, with excellent opportunities for shopping, dining, entertainment and accommodation. It has a vibrant community and well kept streets, parks and river.
 
Visitors to Horsham often comment on our welcoming, friendly attitude and relaxed lifestyle.
 
The region is renowned for its dynamic arts community, ensuring there is always something exciting happening. You will find unusual festivals, musical performances, a superb art gallery, excellent theatre and many vibrant arts workshops.
 
Horsham is continuingly producing public art such as the Tim Jones delightful scar tree sculpture located near City Gardens Estate, Angi Polglaze's totem pole, Wimmera Burnt Creek Meeting Place in Roberts Place, Gallery Alley, and a very dazzling artistic mural in Bradbury Lane, just to name a few.
 
Mosaics and murals, by school children, can be viewed at Horsham North, Horsham West, and Ss Michael and John's Primary Schools.
 
Stroll along the Wimmera River, lined by ancient red gums or enjoy the beautiful Horsham Botanic Gardens designed by William Guilfoyle, who laid out Melbourne's Botanic Gardens.
 
The wider region offers scenic bushland, mountains and waterways. Wartook Valley, in the Grampians and Black Range State Park are a picturesque short drive away, worth seeing for its wildlife, wildflowers, dramatic scenery and wind swept caverns. The picturesque heritage town of Natimuk is situated under the shadow of the world famous rock climbing Mount Arapiles.
