Geocache Description:

Another event brought to you by a proud member of the

You enjoy talking geocaching? Got some cool geocoins that you want to show off and be discovered? You have a tough time deciding what's for supper? Got a geocaching gift you're just wanting to give away? Want to be with friends when the "world ends"?  Want to possibly get something cool as an early Christmas present? Just want to hang out with a bunch of geocaching crazies?

If you answered YES to any of the above questions then this event if for you.

Here's the plan:

Where:
Golden Corral 1492 W O Ezell Boulevard  Spartanburg, SC 29301 (or where the coords take you..hopefully). They have a chocolate fountain and cotton candy...

When: 12-12-12; December 12 (Wednesday) at 6:30-until they kick us out

Who: EVERYONE!! The new and experienced cacher alike. No one will be turned away.

What:  Well eating, of course (everyone is responsible for their own check...sorry).  We will have a trackable trade table and a discovery place (label them accordingly so they don't go missing).  There will even be time to trade signature items if you got them.  We will also do a Geocaching Gift Exchange (see below).

Since it is Christmas time and if you want to participate, we will do a Geocaching Gift Exchange, or White Elephant Gift Exchange, or Yankee Swap, or Black Santa, or Chinese Gift Exchange, in south central Pennsylvania it is also called "Kamikaze Gift Exchange", or whatever you choose to call it.  Don't know what that is?  Here is how it goes:
  • Everyone, who chooses to participate, gets a randomly drawn number when they bring an unlabeled wrapped geocache-themed gift.  No one leaves until all is done.
  • Remember: the person who picks first always gets to pick last.
  • The person with the lowest number chooses a gift, opens it, holds it up for all to see, and takes it back with them.
  • Each person in order then picks a present, opens it, shows it off, then chooses whether to keep it or exchange it for any other present that someone else has already received.
  • Opening and swapping continues until all presents have been chosen, opened, and swapped.
  • Finally, the person who picked first gets to choose from all the presents, or keeps what he/she has already received.

If you have some geocaching item that's in very good condition but you're not using anymore, just wrap it up and drop it on the gift table, then grab a number. If you don't want to do that you can purchase a geocaching item (cost $5 - $10), wrap it up and drop it on the table, then grab a number. The items can be anything geocaching-related (ex. walking stick, geocoin, cache container, water bottle carrier, etc).  The idea is not necessarily the gift, just the fun of the exchange.

NOTE: You do not have to purchase a meal or participate in the Geocaching Gift Exchange in order to receive credit for the event.  If you decide not to eat just let the kind folks at the register know that you are with the geocaching party and they will let you in.

Additional NOTE: Please indicate how many will be attending with you so we get a good estimate on how many are coming. Thanks!!
