La Balade commence à la nouvelle Mairie. Vous pouvez vous garer à proximité dans la rue des écoles (voir waypoint). Vous allez ensuite visiter les principaux lieux, anciens ou récents du village.
Étape 1 : La nouvelle mairie
Construite dans les murs d'une ancienne cave viticole, elle abrite tous les services municipaux du village.

Étape 2 : Le port du canal

Port de plaisance, centre commercial, centre médical, construit à la fin des années 80, le port est devenu le point de convergence du village. On peut y louer des barques à l'heure ou des péniches à la journée. Pour ceux qui n'ont pas le pied marin, il y a des canards à nourrir.

Étape 3: Le lavoir

On se demande si laver le linge dans les eaux troubles du canal devait être très efficace. Le lavoir a été restauré après des années d'abandon et est maintenant une plateforme agréable pour observer les péniches passer pendant la saison estivale. On peut aussi admirer le pont qui permet de rejoindre Montady. Vers la gauche, on peut suivre le canal jusqu'au Malpas et Ensérune et vers la droite, le chemin de halage vous menera à Béziers et aux neuf écluses.

Étape 4: l'ancienne mairie

La Mairie a déplacé ses locaux en 2009. Les anciens locaux ont été rénovés et transformés en logements sociaux.

Étape finale: L'église de St Sylvestre et Ste Colombe

Construite au Vème siècle, l'église de Colombiers a connu de nombreuses rénovations. La dernière en 1987, sous l'impulsion du Père Itié, a rendu au batiment son apparence simple d'origine en enlevant les crépis et les horribles décorations du 19ème et 20ème siècle. A voir en particulier: L'autel wisigothique, le sarcophage et l'ancien jardin du presbytère qui permet de voir l'abside de l'extérieur.

Step 2 : The marina

Marina, shopping hub, medical center, built in the late 80s, the marina has become the new focus point for the village. One can rent a boat for a few hours or narrowboats for a week-long journey. For those who prefer to stay on solid ground, there are always some ducks to feed.

Step 3: The 'lavoir'

Am I the only one thinking that washing clothes in the muddy waters of the canal du Midi couldn't be very efficient? This structure was abandoned and almost sank completely in the canal. After renovations, it is now a nice place to wave the boats from in the summertime. You can notice the bridge that leads to the nearby village of Montady. To the left, the path reaches the Malpas tunnel and the Oppidum. To the right, it goes to Béziers and the '9 écluses' site.

Step 4: The former town hall

The town hall was moved in 2009. The building was then renovated and converted into social housing.

Dating from the fifth century, Colombiers' church has gone through many renovations. The latest in 1987, under the leadership of Father Itié, gave back to the building its simple original appearance, removing the grey rendering and the 19th and 20th century ugly decorations. Worth a look: the wisigothic altar, the sarcophagus and the garden with its exterior view of the apse.
