A short 1km hike to the cache where you will find amazing views of the White mountains, local villages, Kournas Lake and Almyros Bay.
Reference point 1 marks the turning from the main road onto the track. The track is at first wide enough to drive to the parking point. From here it becomes uneven and difficult to turn in a car but easy on foot. The last 150 metres of the hike is rough ground with spikey bushes and rocks. Good shoes are recommended.
In spring the white mountains are snow covered and provide a perfect backdrop to the many wild and beautiful plants and flowers you will see, especially the wild iris. In summer and autumn the clear skies mean the visibility is exceptional and the views magical.
Foot Note
This cache can be accessed from the bottom of the hill at Argyromouri by following the path to Likotinara which is marked with blue dots. The day after we placed this cache we decided to walk up the hill to see how close this path came to the cache. We got within 200 feet when realised the light was fading. We turned back but lost the path on the return and spent two hours lost on the mountainside in the dark. Geocaching friends have since pointed out the Tracback button on our GPS !
The cache is a small square box and contains the usual trinkets, log book and pen.
