You are seeking a traditional hide located at the wonderful Ward Brothers Workshop. The cache is stocked with a log book and a variety of swag. Please no night caching!

“Barbers by trade, in their spare time the Ward brothers carved and painted decoys to use when they were hunting. They soon became famous for their fine decoys. It is estimated that they produced between 27,000 and 50,000 working, decorative and ornamental decoys, with one collection of twelve working decoys selling for $400,000.”

Founded in 1666 by Benjamin Summers, the City's name has evolved from Annemessex, Somers Cove and more. In 1854, a large number of oyster beds were discovered in Tangier Sound which is adjacent to Somers Cove. John W. Crisfield recognized the importance of this natural resource and developed a railroad route to be able to move products to the lucrative markets of the northeast. Town fathers eventually named the City "Crisfield," in his honor and it became incorporated in 1872.

For many years, Crisfield was the leading oyster producing city in the entire United States. By 1904 the City of Crisfield was the second largest city in the State of Maryland (the first being Baltimore) and one of the finest seaports in the country. It quickly became known as the "Seafood Capital of the World." and has been referred to as "The Crab Capital of the World."

Come discover the deep roots and "home town" feel still present in this waterfront hamlet.

The Town of Crisfield thanks you for visiting!
