Geocache Description:

Occam's Razor is a philosophy in the theoretical sciences that states that among competing hypotheses, the one that requires the fewest assumptions should be selected.

Although Ockham isn't given credit for actually coming up with the philosophy, it was a concept that he often abided by in his work.  John Punch actually stated it in its 'accepted' form in 1639.  It essentially eliminates, in part, the responsibility of disproving alternative explanations when discussing one's results of an experiment.  The term 'razor' actually refers to any philosophy that allows one to eliminate unlikely explanations for phenomena (thanks Wikipedia)...the only connection to the sharp blade we think of in referencing the word comes from the fact that such theories allows us to 'shave off,' so to speak, solutions that are improbable and don't support the tested hypothesis in question.

In looking for this cache, DON'T TOUCH THE RAZOR.  It's why I gave the cache it's namesake, and I actually originally hung a simple container from the nearest bit of razorwire from the nearby fence.  Then I came to the obvious realization that it wasn't a good idea...at all.

That said, one CAN use the theory while searching for the cache.  One can eliminate the assumption that one must be tall to get the cache.  One can eliminate the assumption that you have to have a TOTT to get it.  One can ALSO eliminate the assumption that I went against my usual urban-hide technique of using very small containers (which I have from time to time, but it remains an unlikely phenomena).

Please replace the cache exactly as you found it, and please feel free to post any additional trivia you have on the concept. Enjoy!
