This one should be pretty easy. You may want to park at the Wetlands; see coords. Bring your own pen. 15 foot accuracy when hidden. Like all caches all in this series, you are looking for a necessity when the power goes out. Have you heard this before? Brother Zeke does not like to bushwack. I recommend you take the trails unless you are feeling adventurous. The cache is just a little bit off the trail.
September 18, 2003 Isabel hits Virginia. Where was Brother Zeke? Here in Richmond, I watched it all happen in our backyard. I was back in grad school at the time, studying by lantern.
Hurricane Isabel had about 10 hours of high winds which resulted in an immense loss of trees in the eastern third of the state and record power outages. Peak gusts included Norfolk Naval Station, 83 mph, Quantico 78 mph, Langley AFB 76 mph and Richmond International Airport, 73 mph. Gusts flirted with 100 mph in the Middle and Northern Neck regions, adjacent to the Chesapeake Bay.
The destruction that resulted from Hurricane Isabel caused it to be the costliest disaster in the history of Virginia. At the time, Isabel caused about $1.85 billion in damage and was blamed for 36 deaths in the state. Dominion VA Power reported 2,311 broken utility poles, 3,899 snapped crossarms, and 7,363 spans of downed power lines with 72% of its primary distribution circuits damaged.
