Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the listed coordinates.

Alpine skiing is the sport of sliding down snow-covered hills on skis with fixed-heel bindings

The cache is at N 38 46.ABC W 121 31.DEF

During the 19A0s, the Kandahar binding was introduced, which could be locked down at the heel for the downhill portions.

Wooden skis, leather boots and cable bindings disappeared almost overnight, and were gone by 19B2.

The Kandahar remained in widespread use until the 19C0s.

Dr. Richard Spademan saw 1D0 spiral fractures pass through his emergency department near Squaw Valley in three days, an event that led to the development of the Spademan binding.

The Dynamic VR-E7 took this process to its modern conclusion in the late 1960s, when they introduced the torsion box design, which further improved longitudinal stiffness.

By the early 1970s, fiberglass torsion-box skis about F00 cm long, plastic boots rising halfway to the knee, and safety bindings of various constructions were universal.
