Johnstone makes a point Traditional Cache

Ballbag&Bumblebee: Sorry guys. This one has been muggled. Will disable it for two reasons: 1. Don't have time to constantly be checking this out and 2. After finding broken glass and needles at ground zero, it is safer not to have it here. Thanks for the fun.

Geocache Description:

This cache is a micro and only contains a logbook. Please be sure to bring writing equipment to sign the logbook. The area can often be quite busy with muggle activity, therefore extreme stealth may be required when removing the cache from its hide. It is also important that this cache is returned to the exact location it was found to prevent it from being muggled.

This location marks the outermost point of the Johnstone River. It is noted for being one of the locations where Sub-Inspector Robert Arthur Johnstone commenced his trip up river after arriving with the intention to rescue survivors from the shipwrecked 'Maria' in 1872.

Today, Flying Fish Point is a quiet community with various facilities, including a shop/cafe and caravan park. It is also an ideal spot to bring the family to have a pinic/BBQ, walk on the beach or to just relax under a shady tree.

Bring along a fishing line, insect repellent, suncream and a hat.

As with all areas in Far North Queensland it is important to be very crocodile aware. These reptiles do inhabit the Johnstone River and can sometimes be found along the beach at Flying Fish Point. Therefore it is highly recommended that you and your family do not go swimming at this beach. Also, keep an eye on your geohound if it decides to venture in for a quick dip.
