Geocache Description:

The Texas Spirit Quest
is a series of Caches placed by many individuals, near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of paying respect to the many pioneer ancestors that have ‘walked’ before us.

There are hundreds of cemeteries in the rural communities across Texas. This series will introduce you to many of them. The cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the cemeteries, tombstones and local lore.

NOTE: Do not attempt to access from the side of Brushy Creek Road--you must enter the park to retrieve this one!

There are eight interments here: six for members of the Champion family, and two for the husband-and-wife Handleys (no first names available). Dates of death range from 1862 to 1909.

The cemetery is in the middle of the park and can be easily spotted from the parking lot. HOWEVER: because of the presence of pre-existing caches, I could not locate this TSQ entry right on the grounds. Consequently, this cache is NOT by the cemetery. At any rate, the plots are nicely maintained and are surrounded by a wrought iron fence in good condition. A historical marker is also present. As always, any refinements to the listed coordinates are welcomed.
