Here is another rural Clay County cemetery, which belonged to the township rather than to a particular church. It is not currently well-maintained, so look out for poison ivy amongst the high grass and weeds.
We were brought to this cemetery by a friend whose 3 times great-grandparents are buried here. Several Civil War veterans, whose graves here are marked, were granted land in Clay County in recognition of their military service. Our friend's ancestors arrived here just ahead of a December blizzard and somehow endured the long winter.
If you choose to explore the cemetery, note the two unusual metal grave markers in the southwest corner.
