Geocache Description:

This cache is an easily accessible drive-up location, safely removed from the busy state road. Parking is not an issue but parents should be mindful of potential hazards of passing cars. No need to enter the woods or adjoining private property as the cache is located at the historic sign. Bring Your Own Pen.

This geocache is located at one of the Virginia Civil War Trail signs. The marker tells of how Union Gen. George G. Meade ordered a trap set here to catch or kill raider Confederate Maj. John Singleton Mosby. This is a typical story of many such skirmishes that occurred throughout the war in this part of Virginia. It further relates a chapter in the life of Confederate Gen. Richard S. Ewell, a key figure in the fate of the Confederacy. Visit this location to learn more about both subjects.

Congratulations to *** schwandt *** as First To Find of An Historic Ambush!
