This cache is dedicated to my bestest closest friend in the whole world. He doesn't judge me. He doesn't yell at me. He never critisized me. He loves me unconditionally. He's my faithful dog, Gunny. He has large brown soulful eyes and what seems like tons of intelligence behind them. Gunny is also in our profile picture.
If you have ever loved a pet, then you'll know and understand what I am talking about. Dogs can't speak english, but they speak volumes with their eyes and tail. Body language is very important in understanding them.
Gunny came to us in November, 2000. He was born on my birthday. That had nothing to do with why I picked him. It was coincidental. But he was the last male of a litter of puppies.......a Standard Schnauzer. While driving back from the breeder's in Sebastopol, Gunny layed on my lap. The bonding started at that moment. He's been my shadow for just over 12 years now. He may be a senior and he has slowed way down. His hearing is slowly going. But, now and then, he gets in a "wanna play" stance. He plays for just a short period, then he has to lay down to rest. He used to be able to hear me when my car pulled in the driveway, then greet me at the door. These days, he only hears me once I am inside the door. Some watchdog! :) God love him.
He has several nicknames: Gunnyboy, Gunnerboy, Gunnybuns, Gman, and Dude. Silly, yes, but that's what happens when a pet is truly part of the family.
I wanted to dedicate this cache to him while he is still with us.....not as a memorial for when he is gone. Yes, he's old now and that did prompt me to do this. I hope he stays with us for a little longer.
I also painted him which was so much fun!
Thanks to Seek2FindMe for the awesome cache container! There's a turnout next to GZ that should be good for a quick PnG.
UPDATE: 2/16/2013, Gunny lost his battle with cancer. He was 12 1/2 years old to the day. He will be missed beyond words.
Congratulations to Geokashers for FTF....in the dark!
