McINNES FAMILY FARM

McInnes Family Farmhouse

This 1869 farmhouse was originally part of a 160 acre dairy farm owned by the family of Judith McInnes Tozzer, the current owner. The small cottage next door was a cabin for duck hunters, and was located near the dead cedar trees farther west on Jamestown Road.

In 1941, this hunter's cabin was moved to its current location and remodeled. It was a wedding gift to Judy's parents, Rex and Jean McInnes, from Rex's parents, who lived in the big farmhouse. The newlyweds lived here until Rex was drafted into the army and sent to Europe, where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge and lost his left leg above the knee. After a lengthy stay in a Utah amputee hospital, Rex, Jean, and Judy moved into the farmhouse, and this cabin housed farm workers and visiting relatives.

Over the years the farm property was sold, but the McInnes family retained a portion of the beachfront property. In 1993 Judy renovated and expanded the farmhouse, and the next year she renovated this cabin and named it Beach Garden Cottage. For Judy, these homes are full of happy memories of entertaining friends and out-of-town relatives. Restoring them and living in the house where she grew up has quite literally been her dream come true.

McInnes Family Farmhouse, today

This cache is placed by permission from the property owner, Judy McInnes Tozzer. It is located on the west end of the rockery at the pull-out/parking space. Do NOT disturb anything in the yard. If the next door neighbor, Doug McInnes (he knows about the cache too and may give you a hint), happens to be outside ask him if he has any apples for sale. I hear they are quite delicious.
