Geocache Description:

The cache is NOT at the listed coords, however, if you go to N 39° 48.263 W 076° 39.037, you will be at what was once the home of Nelson D. Rehmeyer.

This cache will send you on a quest to find the spell book that mysteriously disappeared. I recently found it and have placed it for you to find. (Final coords may be off due to GPSr bounce.) Starting Items: LogBook, Pen, a geocoin, and two "coins" for the FTF! Got permision from land owner to place.

Please do not trespass at Nelson Rehmeyer's House, because this is private property and there are carmeras on the house. If you do trespass, the police will most likely become an issue. I recommend just driving by and enjoying the view.

Eighty-Four years ago on November 28, 1928 at precisely 12:01 AM, Nelson D. Rehmeyer, was murdered and burnt in his home in Rehmeyers Hollow. John H. Blymire was a local powwow doctor that had been suffering from bad luck and illness for many years. His animals and crops were dying and he was fed up. Nelson Rehmeyer was also a powwow doctor that was thought by Nellie Noll , the River Witch of Marietta, to have put a hex on John H. Blymire. Nellie had told Blymire that the only way to break the hex was to bury a lock of Rehmeyer's hair eight feet in the ground or to burn his copy of Long Lost Friend which was the book that Rehmeyer had used to curse Blymire.

Blymire had recruited two young men, John Curry and Wilbert Hess. The three of them had no intentions to kill Rehmeyer. They were going to cut off a lock of his hair while he was sleeping. But, they had a run in with Rehmeyer when they arrived at his farm house in North Hopewell Township. The only option they thought they had was to murder him so he would not curse them anymore. So they murdered him and caught him on fire. While he was burning, his bodily fluids extinguished the fire.

Even though the three were unsuccessful in finding the book, Blymire had said that he felt like the hex had been lifted after Rehmeyer had died. During the trial that followed the murder, America was shocked that there had been witchcraft in quiet York County, Pennsylvania. The three men were convicted of the murder and put in jail. When they were later released, they lived a quiet life and later died of natural causes.

The cache is located at N 39° 50.ABC W 076° 3E.FGH
