*****CAUTION! MANAGED DEER HUNT**** (Usually runs about November 1st to January 15th, will update with 2014-2015 dates when available). During this period the cache is still available, but I'd recommend going for them in the middle of the day and not early morning or evening. We have every right to this park as much of the hunters do, but hopefully we can respectful of each others hobbies.
Once upon a time two geocachers were going on a First To Find hunt. They would suceed. Admiral Doug & DrPowercat were basking in there glory after getting our Co-FTF. On the way out of the woods the conversation would begin about Battleship. That was in June of 2011. Then the adventure would begin.
Through the use of our grand reviewers forum that brought so many of us together the recruiting of battleship hiders would begin. Resumes were sent in, applications were mailed, interviews were performed and your battleship hiders would be chosen from Kansas City's select.
On October 22, 2011 many Geocachers email would go crazy with the sounds of 106 KC Battleship Geocaches all being released simultaneously. It was a splendid day indeed. It signaled the project had finally set sails across the high seas. All of our goals in Battleship was to create something that Kansas City hadn't seen before. I feel like we did. I hope we did. The feedback has been great.
On October 22, 2012 KC Battleship became 1 year old. Sure this mighty series is still an infant in many eyes, but in ours it's a giant. And it's a testament to all that one year later that all geocaches are alive and well. Sure there's been some hiccups here and there, but they don't last long in battleship land. That's why all of us battleship hiders have been one.
So on this day please send out a big thank you to DrPowercat, Pax42, buzzkill2, kickrobo, JASTSJR, Traveling Armadillos, louinliberty, debrajean, jjbarretts2, awhsom, SmallsKC, Larry202br, erictheump, TeamSNOOTH, dgjscook, Firemnky, StealthRT, cyndicow, flying ratz, redsoxfan65, Trip Cyclone, & BowhunterS&K. With out all these great KC Geocachers you would of never had this much fun Geocaching. All of them are the reason KC Battleship is still alive and well.
