Like Virgin sites 1,2,3 this one looks right down on the freeway but is much closer to both the freeway and the river than the other sites.
With some of my other cache sites I have given detailed instructions. With this one all you should need is to take the Black Rock Exit #27 south of St. George and go north on the exit.
But this you should know. Once you turn off the oil it is 5 miles of UN-MAINTAINED back country road/trail. This road surely was created by full sized vehicles long ago probably before 4x4s. It is being used mostly by ATV traffic now and roads tend to narrow up a bit without full sized use. This one is not real tough but HIGH CLEARANCE IS REQUIRED. Any good SUV with GOOD TIRES can probably make it. Shifting into 4 wheel drive will save you a lot of tire wear on the SHARP LAVA ROCKS, maybe even save a tire. I think the greatest worry here is the tire sidewalls if you are not carefull as you pick your way through the rocky spots. I rated this one as 3 just because of the road.
Check out the natural arch in the rock at N 36 59.015 W 113 40.556 that is only a few feet off the road a few blocks from the cache.
Once you get to the cache walk 428 feet to the rim to the West. This is the view that you came for and it is great. Don't miss it after all the effort getting here.
