Geocache Description:

Yowie 3747  Cache#: 13  - The Precipice

This cache is located at the Precipice Lookout in the Beechworth Historic Park.

From this location you can take in the view of the former rich goldfields of Reids Creek and the Woolshed.

The population of this valley peaked in the thousands back in the 1850s, covered with diggers living tents and searching for gold during the day.  

Poor conditions and disease made living in the diggings a harsh life, the allure of gold kept them working hard during the day and at night they would keep their spirits high by entertaining themselves with song and dance to sounds of piano and fiddles that could heard throughout the valley.

The Precipice View

Although the diggers and their tents are all gone now, you can still see where they cleared the valley of trees.

To get to GZ you can park near and hike alone one of the walking tracks from the following locations:
Ingram's Rock - 1.5km round trip (GC3QM1B : Ingram's Cave)
One Tree Hill - 3km round trip (GC3YJAA : One Tree! Which Tree?)

The cache contains a log book and pen.
Be snake aware.
