Geocache Description:

A slightly tricky hide requiring a fair bit of stealth in this lovely area of Welwyn Garden City. Please note that in August 2013 this was sadly changed to a sneakier smaller hide in the same location. Hopefully this will be more muggle-proof. This cache brings you to a surprising little green, which serves as the Central point of a selection of houses built for the 1922 Daily Mail Model Village. This was the forerunner to the Ideal Home Exhibition and the modern day Ideal Home Show.

Welwyn Garden City was the second of the garden city movement and was founded by Sir Ebenezer Howard in the 1920s following his previous experiment in Letchworth Garden City. Howard had called for the creation of planned towns that were to combine the benefits of the city and the countryside and to avoid the disadvantages of both. This cache can be picked up as a bit of a detour from the West Welwyn Wanderings Series. You are also right next to one of Welwyn's theatres - Barn theatre which is the last remaining part of an old farm as the name suggests. You are looking for a small hide in a sneaky container. Please bring your own pen.
