A short message brought to you all the way from the Capitol
Caches, terrible caches
Placed inside trash bins
Restricted areas
These were the geocaches that were placed.
Several cachers violated the cache placement guidelines.
Geocachers questioned by security guards, even police, until caching began to set a bad tone.
And then those cachers left.
Their caches were archived
And a new group of cachers rose up.
But good caches come at a cost, and take time to put together.
We swore as a community that we would never know bad cache placement again.
And so it was agreed that each year an event would be held to demonstrate how to hide geocaches
By having cachers compete
In a timed event
That would test their senses and their abilities.
The lone victor receiving the most coveted FTF and bathed in prizes.
And then a time after to meet with veteran cachers.
To ask questions
To learn
This is how we remember our past.
This is how we safeguard our future.
