Geocache Description:

Historically this is the site of the first gaol in Port Macquarie, also the 2nd ever female factory. The first female inmates made the nails and the spikes for Saint Thomas’s Church.

The well on this site was built in 1840.

Up the road is where I work, at North East Public School of Distance Education. Although distance education was traditionally established for students from geographically isolated areas, it now caters for a much broader group of students including those travelling locally or overseas, students with medical conditions or those students who cannot attend a mainstream setting for a period of time.

When I was in primary school, the school up the road, Port Macquarie Public School, grew too large and this was the location of the annexe.

The cache is a micro hidden in a small cammo with log book. BYO pencil
