A traditional cache requiring water transport (or a 40m swim) to access. Good launching for all boat types nearby.
Please read instructions and cache safely.

Lake Karapiro was formed when the Karapiro Power Station was commisioned 12km downstream from this cache. The Lake filled over a period of about a week, and what were high points on the river terraces far above the river bed, have been left as small islands in this part of the lake.
As these didn't exist as islands until recent times, there is no historic name. Government agencies put their collective thinking caps on and came up with this inovative name. Similarly, a smaller island approx 200m south was named "Island B", and a more substantial Island around 1.5km south was named "Island C".
To access this cache by the shortest route requires crossing one of the slalom courses for the local waterski club. Note ski activities have right of way, so do not swim this stretch if the course is in use. In this event simply take a longer route to the other side of the island. There are easy landing sites within a few metres of the cache on either side of the island. Usual safety precautions apply: wear a lifejacket, only undertake what you are confident doing
