Geocache Description:

THE BIG HIKE IS SLOWLY BEING ARCHIVED,,,DUE TO MANY MAINTENENCE DEMANDS AND SEVERE LACK OF TIME,SINCE STARTING UP ANOTHER BUSINESS,IT WILL SLOWLY BE ARCHIVED AS MAINTENECE REQUESTS COME IN.ANY CONTAINERS WILL BE PICKED UP AFTER SECTIONS ARE CLOSED,THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO ATTENDED

the big hike series,is along the route of 3 archived series ,village hike ,animals in the wild, and burton hills, aswell as a new extension running from burton to ferriby and back
the terrain is generally level but there are a few small inclines along its course.
most of the caches will present little in the way of a challenge to find once at gz.
the hints for each cache will give you a big pointer in the right direction,so dont look at the hints if you prefer a challenge.

this series is all about the walk, and boosting your numbers.
it should be fairly easy to complete in one day,but if you prefer it can be split into 2 sections from the alkborough section.
the new extension would be a very long walk, with some along roadside,so this may be better on bike,or a combination of car and foot/bike
most of the walk is on public footpaths and bridleways, however there are a few very small roadside sections, and although not busy roads ,care should be taken.
the first section running from burton to whitton follows the course of a high ridge overlooking the trent, stunning views are available here in any weather....so bring your camera.
the second section running from whitton to wintringham you will be travelling over footpaths, fields, very rough tarmac, again with some very good views, but it can get muddy in places.
the third section runs from wintrigham to west halton....lots of waterside walks...
the forth section runs to alkborough ,before joining the road ,which will take you to the bridleway leading to coleby.
the final section leads from coleby back to the start at burton...mostly open fieldside walking...but again with good views.

the extension runs from burton to flixborough/winterton/ferriby/roxby/winterton then back to burton
anyway have fun, enjoy the walk, and enjoy the sights of north lincs and the humber area.
any reports of missing caches, wet logs, leaking containers will be dealt with as soon as i can get out to the caches.but if cachers would like to help in this it would be greatly appreciated.
if a cache is rated as a 1/2 or even 3 star then it should be fairly easy to locate,,,with the clue,,,,,so if you cant find it,then its probably gone,,so feel free to replace if you still want to log the find,,,failing that please email me with any concerns and i will check then out asap.
happy caching.

ps dont feel obliged to write long logs on the series ,just a final sum up will suffice!! i wont be offended with 99 TFTCS
