Come on out to the 1st Annual Hub City Cachers Awards Banquet!  This event is scheduled for Wednesday, December 12th beginning at 6:00 p.m. at The Coopertown Cafe in West Hattiesburg!  The Coopertown Cafe is a newish Hattiesburg area restaurant with really good American style food and an even better rock-n-roll atmosphere.

Attend this event to ensure you log a "smiley" on 12-12-12, which qualifies you for a once-in-a-lifetime (literally) Geocaching souvenir!  And there's so much more in store for the night -- door prizes, certificates and awards for Geocaching milestones and DIRTY SANTA!!!  No, Born2BCute, I don't mean that kind of Dirty Santa.  Ha!  I mean a Geocaching-themed gift exchange!  If you'd like to participate, bring a wrapped Geocaching-themed item valued at $5-$10 -- tools of the trade, custom containers, gift packs, unique trackables, whatever your heart desires, the "funner" the better! 

We will also be inducting our first panel of Hub City Cachers officers at this event. We will be voting through Survey Monkey over the next two weeks. I am finishing up the election survey now and should have it posted in the next day or so, and I'll post the link on the Hub City Cachers Facebook page.

Speaking of Facebook, for those of you who live in or spend a great deal of time in the Greater Hattiesburg area, we have a "Hub City Cachers" Facebook group that we use to keep in touch with other local cachers. It's a very friendly group, and the first point of communication for caching opportunities around the area. Look us up on Facebook and join in on the fun!.

ADOPT A CHILD this Christmas!

This is certainly the time of year where we need to remember those who are less fortunate. Summertyme531 had a great idea to do a collection for a local nonprofit! Instead of toys, how about we collect something that's more NEEDED than wanted -- UNDERWEAR! I'm not joking. Ha! We are going to partner with Pinebelt Association for Families, a local nonprofit that supports Grandparents Raising Grandchildren. Through their "Undies for a 100" program, they collect socks and underwear for those children who cannot afford it. See the list below that includes the children to be adopted and their sizes.

If you'd like to adopt a child and purchase undergarments for him or her (around $15 worth), simply post a note on the cache page so we can keep track. Feel free to adopt on your own or team up with another cacher or two! Here is the list of children Hub City Cachers has adopted through Pinebelt Association for Families' "Undies for a 100 program! This list includes the child's name, the waist size, the preferred underwear type and the preferred sock type.
